Local Future Guide

Write for us

Local Future Guide welcomes clear, thoughtful contributions about imagining and discussing change close to home. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for an editor to understand the idea and its value to readers.

What we welcome

We are interested in accessible explainers, comparisons, reflective essays and practical prompts about possible futures, civic imagination, place and change. Strong pieces give readers a distinct idea to consider and leave room for differing circumstances. Avoid presenting speculation as certainty or prescribing one answer for every community.

What to include in a pitch

Use the Contact page to send a short summary of the proposed piece, its central question, the likely reader and what makes the subject worth exploring. Include a brief description of your relevant experience or perspective, without assuming that credentials are required. Please mention any interests or relationships that could affect how readers interpret the contribution.

Before sending

Original work should be clear, specific and written for general readers. Explain unfamiliar terms, distinguish facts from opinion and avoid unsupported claims. A proposal is not a commission, and publication is not guaranteed. Please do not send a complete manuscript unless requested.

Our point of view

The future starts with better questions

A future is not a prediction to accept. It is a set of possibilities to examine, discuss and revise as circumstances change.
